The following are snipets from a post i made one year ago as i turned 29:

i know the rest of my life will have highs and lows. i know i will cry tears of joys and tears of heartache. but i’m DONE sleepwalking through life. I’m DONE “just making it through the day.” i’m DONE just going through the motions. i’m DONE being a “less-than-my-best” version of myself.

I’m ready. ready to make my 29th year of life the best year of my life. I’m ready to continue this weight-loss journey. I’m ready to continue to take better care of myself. I’m ready to truly LIVE LIFE - experience life! I’m ready to go out more with friends. i’m ready to laugh more, smile more, love more, live more.

so, here’s to my best year yet - and being my best version-of-me yet!

my 29th year was absolutely the best year of my life.  i lost 115ish pounds.  i fell in love with myself and my life.  i gained my life back and created the best version of myself.  i became my own success story and created my own sweet destiny.  in my 29th year, i no longer felt lingering moments of depression.  i am happy, healthy, and excited to live my life! 

today i turned 30.  my friends at work put up some decorations on my door.  my next-door teacher gave me flowers.  my students gave me:  a blue colored pencil, a box of chocolates, a baloon, an apple picture frame, a serenity prayer wall hanging, and 3 pennies.  my dad sent me a card and some money.  i’ve recieved lots of texts and facebook messages and posts wishing me a happy birthday.  i’ve seen a few very special tumblr shout-outs from marathonmelissa, pickyourhard, and seekikirun and gotten a few tumblr messages with birthday wishes.  they all have meant soooo much to me!

I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to top how amazing this past year was, but i’m going to try :)  this year, i’ll be doing some traveling (nyc, bald head island, kansas city, chicago, colorado) and doing lots of races (lincoln half-marathon, bolder boulder, kc color run, warrior dash, omaha half-marathon, soaring wings half-marathon, and the chicago marathon…..to name the major ones).

i’ve hit my weight-loss goal and have maintained that weight-loss for the past 7ish weeks.  my focus now is to improve my strength and just become overall more physically fit. 

this year, i am so excited to meet some of my tumblr friends IRL!!!  I’ve started dating….and it’s been lots of fun so far!  i’m so excited for my 30th year…..and i’m going to give it all i’ve got to make it even better than last year :)
