Saturday morning is the Trek up the Tower event here in Omaha.
First National Bank Building. Tallest building between Denver and Chicago. 40 floors. 870 steps.
I did the stair machine at the gym tonight for the last time before the Trek. 87 steps a minute. 10 minute workout. Had to stop every 2.5 minutes for 10-20 seconds to give my legs a break.
Truth time: Am I in the best shape possible for this event? No. Did I train as much as I possibly could? No. Did I train a fair amount? Yes. Am I ready? Yes. Am I scared? Yes. I am a little scared. I’ve never done anything like this before.
Floor Dedications - I’m not sure where I originally read this idea, but it was for a half marathon and the writer of the story dedicated the miles of her half marathon to those important to her.
Here are my floor dedications:
- Floors 1-10: These floors are for my dad and my late mom. My dad is one of my best friends. He is the most generous, faithful, helpful person I know. He is constant source of support. When I didn’t believe in myself, he believed in me. My mom was one of my best friends. I’m so thankful for the relationship we had. She was one of my biggest cheerleaders. Even when she was going through chemo, she rarely missed any events (sports or otherwise) of mine. I would not be who/where I am today without my parents.
- Floors 11 & 12: For my oldest brother R and his family (wife B, daughters B, M, and T, and stepson A).
- Floors 13 & 14: For my brother G and his family (wife M, daughters E, L, and K, and son D).
- Floors 15 & 16: For my brother R and his family (wife M and little angel C).
- Floors 17 & 18: For my sister C and her family (husband T and daughter J).
- Floors 19 & 20: For my brother R and his family (wife K, son T, and daughter A).
- Floors 21 & 22: For my sister S and her son R.
- Floors 23 & 24: For my aunts, uncles, and cousins on my mom’s side of the family.
- Floors 25 & 26: For my aunts, uncles, and cousins on my dad’s side of the family
- Floors 28 & 29: For my amazing IRL friends!
- Floors 30 & 31: For my amazing tumblr friends!
- Floors 32, 33, and 34: For my past. It hasn’t always been easy. It hasn’t always been fun. I’m at a point today where I can truly say I’m thankful for ALL of my past experiences. They have shaped the person I am and the life I’m lucky to lead today.
- Floors 35, 36, and 37: For my present life. I may not be in the best physical shape, I may not have the most money, I may have things in my life I am working on changing. But I’m living a life I love and I love the life I live.
- Floors 38, 39, and 40: For my future. The possibilities are endless. I’m determined to create my best life possible and create my own sweet destiny!
